Pleasure or Punishment
Do we give thanks to the mobile phone for blessing us with technology or we curse it because it has distanced us from our families? It has done both actually. Since the advent of 21st century the technology has also turned new and given us unimaginable things that we didn't even think of in the 1990's. But look now. Today, the iPhone 6, the tablets, the Smartphone, the laptops and palm tops and what not have made things so easy. We can book our movie tickets, download huge 4 hours movies and documentaries, learn hard mathematical equations, download recipes and eat delicious food and what not. Mobile has done everything that we humans are not capable to do it by our own physical hands. And what's ironic it is us-the human brains that have invented this piece of technology. But is it is really giving us what we wished for?
All-Town Story
For the techno freaks this is a good option. They can't live without these precious assets for even a single minute. Look at the college and school going teens, every single one would have earphones plugged in or are messaging on the social sites to their so-called bosom friends. But are they really close to them? Just think about it. You are sitting on a dinner table with family; everybody is talking with each other. But, the person with cell-phone is not talking. He is chatting and that too with his never seen friend. This will make the parents angry and they will speak stern with the kids who in turn will make the kids angry and rebellious. The whole thing will lead to nowhere.
What We Need To Do
You are well-aware of the cyber bullying cases and illicit messages on group sms-chat. You child befriends some friend of a friend, and he/she may not be good for him. They might bully or harass him/her if the child doesn't listen to their demands. These mobile-hackers spare no one. They make small kids, teens and even senior adults the victim of their heinous world. This is why the child-care and teen-help organizations are constantly asking and requesting the parents to keep a controlled-check on the usage of the mobile phone by their kids. If necessary, keep a parental lock or a password or print out the list of your child's friend list. Whenever they are not around, surf the history of their laptop and see whether they are browsing any illicit pages or talking with someone who is a lurking danger. I am not asking you to pry or making a mistrust- that's not the point. The point is- you need to keep your child safe at every moment of his/her life. Young girls and boys will get lost in this world of technology which shows bright technical colors. We cannot stop the advent but at least we can control it.
What we can do for our children to save them from being a techno-slave? We have to love them, make them understand in their own words that this piece of technology is meant for information, hard-work and a bit of entertainment. Make them your up-lifters and not destroyers.
