Mad Scientist Builds A Terrifying Wrist-Mounted Flame Thrower In His Garage

Insane garage mad scientist Colin Furze promised three absurd X-Men themed projects by the end of the month — and man, has he delivered.
First came his ridiculous, automatically extendable Wolverine claws. Then came his Magneto boots, which let him walk upside down across the ceiling. His last project, though, might be the most dangerous of the lot: wrist-mounted flame throwers.

Built in homage to flame-tossing baddie Pyro, the system uses a backpack-rigged fueling system that pushes a ton of propane out juuuuust fast enough that Furze doesn’t singe his own digits.
To keep it a bit more accurate to the character (who needed a lighter to spark his flames), Furze’s ridiculous creation requires a bit of two-handed coordination: one hand acts as the lighter, while the other works as the fuel source. This also (theoretically) keeps him from accidentally shooting off that eight-foot flame at something he doesn’t mean to — like, you know, his face. Plus it forces him to take a crazy Dragon Ball Z/Mortal Kombat stance to throw the fire, which really just adds to the effect.
But seriously: don’t do this at home. Even if you have some vague idea of what you’re doing, there’s so, so much that could go wrong here.
Oh, and good news: while Colin originally only promised three character-inspired projects, he says he’s had so “many suggestions for other characters” that he’s pretty sure he’ll do some more.

Lamborghini Murcielago crashes and burns by George Washington Bridge

The 211-mph supercar was left by a New Jersey car dealer in a fiery ball and comes just days after two more high-profile wrecks on the Jersey Turnpike.

A New Jersey car dealer crashed a Lamborghini and left it burning by the George Washington Bridge early Monday -- and no one really knows why.

The driver, Deankarte E. Ditchfield-Agboh, is the president of East Coast Auto Group, a used car dealer with two franchises in Newark and Lodi, New Jersey. Ditchfield-Agboh, 33, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and abandoning a car, a grey 2008 Murcielago. According to NJ.com, he will be in court in August but has so far not given any reason for the crash. Reports indicate Ditchfield-Agboh and a female passenger escaped from the wreckage but did not appear to crash into or harm anyone else.

A Twitter user was one of the first to record the scene shortly after the crash occurred around 2 a.m. on Monday. The Murcielago, which was discontinued in 2010, is capable of 211 mph. The 2008 LP640 came with a 6.5-liter V12 engine with 632 horsepower.

Crazy Dude Builds Fully Automatic Wolverine Claws In His Garage

big wulv

Others have taken a stab at this sort of project before, but all of those I’ve seen only do one half of the equation: the claw extension. Once the claws came out, they had to be manually set back in place. Weaaaak.
With the help of a super clever compressed air system, Furze’s claws are able to extend and retract on command. Sure, he needs to wear a big ol’ backpack to make it all work — but besides swappin’ out your skeleton for one with a bit more adamantium, this is probably about as close as you can get to the real deal.
As much as I’d love to play with a pair of these, I’m pretty sure I’d end up stabbing myself just putting on the backpack.
If the guy in the video looks familiar, don’t be too surprised. This isn’t Furze’s first venture into the land of insane DIY. Back in 2007, he made a massive (and terrifyingly shoddy looking) “Wall Of Death” so he could ride around almost horizontally on his lil’ Honda Skyride.
