General signs and symptoms of cancer

 

These are the early signs and symptoms of cancer that one should look out for and be aware of them.

Cancer has become a common disease that is taking away many lives on daily basis. Experts have come up with signs and symptoms of cancer that you can detect in your body thus seeing a doctor. When this disease is detected early it can be cured though there are some types of cancer that can start in places where it will not cause any sign or symptoms while others can cause the following signs and symptoms of cancer:
Unusual lump in any part of your body
These cancers occur mainly in the breast, testicles, glands or any soft tissue in your body. A lump or its thickening can be an early or late signs and symptoms of cancer and should be reported to a doctor. It is important to inform you doctor how long it has lasted and if it is thickening. The best time to notice unusual lumps is in the shower.
Changes in moles or the skin
One can have a mole for a long period but sudden changes in it or appearance of a new mole should be noted and also changes in your skin since there can be a chance that you have malignant melanoma(skin cancer). Changes to kook out for is if a mole has more than one colour, if it has a different shape , if its diameter is more than 7mm  and if it has an irregular border with jagged edges. For this are signs and symptoms of cancer.
Bowel and bladder changing habits
Look out for the following signs and symptoms of cancer; blood in the stool, diarrhea or constipation for no reason, pain when passing urine and any other unusual changes in your bladder or bowel movement.
Nagging cough or hoarseness
When you experience a cough that is not going away may be a sign of lung cancer, you can also experience shortness of breath, chest pain and hoarseness which can be signs of cancer of the larynx, thyroid cancer, cancer of the gullet etc.
Unexplained weight loss
When you suddenly loose weight over a short period of time and it can not be explained by either illness, diet or exercise can be a signs and symptoms of cancer and you should visit a doctor as soon as possible.
* The above are some of the most common signs and symptoms of cancer but there are many others that are not listed here so if you notice any unfamiliar change in any part of your body then you should just see a doctor. The above signs and symptoms do not necessary mean you have cancer they are also associated with many other non-cancerous conditions.
